Breathe in the warm Adriatic breeze and step back into 1970s seaside Yugoslavia, where the picturesque town of Lovran spills gently toward the turquoise shoreline. This colour-rich postcard offers a charming triptych: an aerial view of the historic old town nestled between sea and forested slopes, a romantic seaside villa framed by parasols, and a lively summer bathing scene along the promenade.
Lovran, located on the eastern coast of the Istrian Peninsula, has long been favoured for its balmy climate and belle époque architecture. Under Yugoslav administration during the postwar decades, it became a peaceful resort destination popular with European travellers. This particular postcard, sent via airmail to Bournemouth, England, features two Jugoslavija stamps and a handwritten message full of casual, nostalgic warmth. The publisher’s imprint reads Primorski Tisk, Koper, with serial number 352/73, dating the card to the early 1970s.
Soft edge wear adds character to this genuine piece of Cold War-era travel ephemera. For collectors of Yugoslav postcards, Adriatic tourism history, or handwritten correspondence, it offers a delightful blend of visual beauty and personal storytelling from a now-vanished country.
