FOR COLLECTIBLE PURPOSES ONLY. This is a vintage, cancelled share certificate and holds no financial value. A fantastic piece of scripophily / industrial history.
This richly engraved certificate is bordered in ochre-brown with fine guilloche patterns and elaborate cartouches, topped by a domed Missouri state seal bearing the motto “Salus Populi Suprema Lex Esto”. The name HYDRAULIC-PRESS BRICK COMPANY is rendered in bold gothic script, suggestive of early industrial robustness. A finely printed capital structure appears beneath, and a white embossed seal adds further depth and texture. Cancelled annotations and transfer stamps complete its visual character.
Issued on May 26, 1936, this certificate represents twenty-five shares of general capital stock. The company, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, was a significant player in American brick manufacturing, specialising in high-quality pressed brick used in construction and urban development across the Midwest. The certificate was printed by Security Bank Note Company, and is endorsed by A.G. Edwards & Sons, a prominent investment firm also based in St. Louis.
This example measures approximately 11 5/8 x 7 5/8 inches and is preserved in decent vintage condition, with light toning and modest archival wear, consistent with age. The reverse features a signed assignment dated May 27, 1936, with handwritten and stamped notations marking the transfer. A desirable item for collectors of industrial scripophily, American manufacturing history, or pre-war Missouri business documents.
