A delightful window into the coastal character of Aberdeen, this cheerful vintage postcard captures the whimsy of the era with a central image of two Scottish Terriers — one black, one white — playfully captioned “A Double Scotch”. Surrounding them are scenic snapshots from the city, including King’s College, Hazlehead Café, Brig o’ Balgownie, and Aberdeen Beach Promenade, radiating mid-century holiday charm.

Published by J.B. White Ltd., Glenrothes, Fife, this Colourmaster International series postcard reflects a popular style of the time: lively animal-themed centrepieces paired with regional photo insets. It was postally used and addressed to Eaglescliffe, Stockton-on-Tees, with a magenta 2½p Queen Elizabeth II stamp and a child’s affectionate message written in rounded penmanship — “having a lovely time… love from Fiona.”

Both light-hearted and historic, this piece invites collectors to celebrate the personal joys and visual styles of vintage British tourism. From the sweet domestic tone of the note to the bold layout, it serves as a preserved moment of cross-generational affection and civic pride.
