The roar of water echoes through the limestone gorge as High Force, fed by the River Tees, plunges with unstoppable energy into the pool below. Captured here in full flow, the waterfall is framed by rugged cliff faces and verdant summer foliage — a wild spectacle in the heart of the North Pennines. The card’s colour saturation heightens the drama, evoking the sound, spray, and sheer scale of one of Britain’s natural wonders.

Published by J. Salmon Ltd. as part of their popular Cameracolour series, this postcard was posted in the mid-1980s, based on the 19p brown Queen Elizabeth II definitive stamp. It includes a handwritten message on the reverse and retains its original Salmon postmark branding. As one of England’s oldest postcard publishers, Salmon was renowned for combining photographic impact with colour precision — evident in the vibrancy of this dramatic scene.

Whether admired for its geological significance or visual power, High Force remains a cherished landmark in northern England. This card preserves that sense of awe for collectors and travellers alike — a vivid reminder of Britain’s untamed natural heritage waiting to be passed from hand to hand.
