High above the lush English countryside, the Bristol Bulldog K2227 cuts a striking figure against the open sky, its polished frame gleaming in the sunlight, its twin Vickers machine guns bristling with silent authority. You can almost hear the thrum of the 490 h.p. Bristol Jupiter engine, feel the tight cockpit against your shoulders, and sense the fierce pride of a pilot entrusted with one of the RAF’s finest fighters of the interwar years. This vintage aviation art print brings the era vividly to life — a time of bold designs, daredevil aerobatics, and a world standing between two global conflicts.

The Bristol Bulldog, developed to Air Ministry specification F.9/26, first flew in 1927 and entered service with the RAF in May 1929. Altogether, 293 Bulldogs were supplied to the RAF, replacing the earlier Siskins and Gamecocks. Notably, 52 two-seat trainer versions were also built for flight schools like Cranwell, while export models served nations such as Latvia, Siam, Australia, Sweden, Estonia, and Denmark. This print captures the very last Bulldog airworthy in 1964, flown by Cyril Peckham over Farnborough shortly before it was tragically lost in an engine-out incident during aerobatics — with the pilot escaping safely. Published by Flight, London SE1, in 1970, this good condition vintage print, measuring approximately 10 x 7 3/4 inches, is a rare and meaningful piece of Britain’s interwar aviation heritage.

Preserving iconic aviation prints like this safeguards the brave spirit, technical mastery, and historical achievements of generations past. Each piece offers a profound link to the world of early RAF air power, where courage, precision, and engineering excellence shaped the future of aviation. Owning this historic Bristol Bulldog print is a tribute to the enduring legacy of British military aviation, making it an essential addition to any serious collection.
