Bathed in gentle light and rich in human warmth, Pieter de Hooch’s Morning Toilet (also titled Moedertaak) captures a tender moment of motherhood in a sunlit interior. The soft palette and careful geometry of the tiled floor, doorways, and furnishings create a harmonious composition filled with peaceful domesticity.

This official Rijksmuseum issue, printed in Holland, reproduces de Hooch’s original oil painting with remarkable fidelity. Known for his tranquil portrayals of middle-class interiors, de Hooch (1629–1683) was a contemporary of Vermeer and remains celebrated for his luminous treatment of light and space. The multilingual caption on the reverse identifies the painting across several European languages, underlining its wide cultural resonance.

To preserve this piece is to honour the quiet poetry of daily life, as seen through the eyes of a Dutch Golden Age painter. For collectors of fine art postcards, European museum editions, or 17th-century Dutch masters, this is a modest yet meaningful keepsake of enduring human connection.
