Set against the optimism of the post-war atomic age, this original 1958 Exposition Universelle postcard features the sleek, modernist design of the U.S. Pavilion at Expo 58 in Brussels. Its distinctive circular form, lattice exterior, and golden American eagle insignia epitomise the bold visual language of mid-century international exhibitions.

This card was posted from Brussels on 21 April 1958, with a clear Expo postal cancellation and 3F Belgian stamp depicting King Baudouin. The printed caption appears in four languages and identifies the pavilion as that of the United States of America, underscoring its global diplomatic positioning at the height of Cold War tensions. The handwritten message on the reverse offers a personal account of the fountains and mannequins inside the pavilion — a rare human snapshot of Expo wonder.

Despite moisture staining to the reverse, the visual integrity of the front remains intact, and the postal history adds authenticity. An evocative piece for collectors of World’s Fair memorabilia, mid-century architecture, or American cultural diplomacy.
