The Setting – London in Bloom, 1972
The front of this richly coloured postcard offers a sweeping view of Buckingham Palace and the Victoria Memorial framed by perfect rows of tulips and early summer skies. Londoners in coats and caps stroll across the forecourt while classic cars curve around the Mall — a quiet but proud portrait of ceremonial Britain at rest.

The Reverse – A Child’s Handwriting, A Moment in Time
Posted from London on 18 October 1972, the reverse features a charming handwritten message from a child on holiday, marveling at “the black and white minstrels in real life” and hopeful talk of visits to Dumfries and central London. Addressed to Mr & Mrs Fawcett in Perth, the message evokes both innocence and a snapshot of British family life during the period. The card was published by Kardorama Ltd, a prolific mid-century British postcard publisher known for vibrant photographic prints.

Preservation – A Tangible Link to the Royal Capital
Though a tape stain and corner wear are present, the piece retains strong colour and character. Collectors of royal ephemera, 1970s UK travel, or London street scenes will appreciate this blend of personal narrative and national imagery. Preserving such items honours not only the architecture of Buckingham Palace, but the voices of everyday travellers who sent these windows into history.
