FOR COLLECTIBLE PURPOSES ONLY. This is a vintage, cancelled share certificate and holds no financial value. A fantastic piece of scripophily / industrial history.

The certificate is framed by a vivid crimson red border featuring geometric guilloché panels and dual corner cartouches indicating the share volume. Centred at the top is an allegorical figure of Liberty or Progress, robed and seated before a stylised city skyline. Issued on June 4, 1970, the certificate was registered in Delaware and endorsed by both The Chase Manhattan Bank and First National Bank of Chicago, with cancellation details and mechanical punch perforations confirming transfer.

Western Union Corporation was one of the most influential communication firms of the 19th and 20th centuries, known for its telegraph and telegram services before transitioning into electronic financial services. By the 1970s, Western Union was redefining its role in an era of technological change. This document, produced by the Federated Banknote Company, reflects the transitional period of corporate telecommunications branding, combining classic engraved motifs with modern layout clarity.

This share certificate measures approximately 12 x 8⅛ inches and is in very good condition, with minor wear and light archival toning. The reverse includes completed transfer documentation to Cede & Co., processed through E.F. Hutton & Co. in December 1970, with all stamps and notations intact. A significant artefact for collectors of vintage financial ephemera, 20th-century communications, or engraved securities.
