This 1969 share certificate for 100 capital stock shares in Seatrain Lines Inc features a striking maritime allegory of global logistics. The vignette depicts a seated male figure with navigational instruments before twin globes, illustrating the company’s international reach. Printed in rich blue by Security-Columbian Banknote Company, its finely engraved border and classic layout reflect late-1960s American corporate design at a transitional moment in global shipping.

Incorporated under the State of Delaware, Seatrain Lines pioneered the early intermodal movement of cargo using railcars loaded onto ships. The certificate, dated October 16, 1969, was issued to C. A. England & Co and later transferred via Paine, Webber, Jackson & Curtis, a leading brokerage of the time. The piece was registered by Chemical Bank (New York) and countersigned by The Chase Manhattan Bank, both central institutions in New York’s financial ecosystem.

This specimen is in decent vintage condition, with minor toning and archival signs of use. The reverse is rich with brokerage and tax stamps, including a prominent 1970 Oppenheimer & Co. mark. Measuring approx. 12 x 8 inches, it is ideal for collectors of transport history, maritime trade, or Wall Street financial artefacts from the container shipping revolution.
